Artist Statement
All
creations upon this earth have a soul; plants, animals and humans. Imagine that
the souls of all these inhabitants of earth are created from energy. This energy
gives these various forms an aspect of life which many beings cannot understand.
Unlike simply being alive (breathing, obtaining food, etc.), these beings are
capable of reshaping one another by merely rearranging this energy they possess
in their soul. Human beings have the greatest opportunity of all creatures on
this earth to tap into this energy and reshape the world around them. This is
what many people refer to as ‘magick’.
It is not that
difficult for one to be able to harness this energy, also known as the avatar.
However, for one to be able to tap into it they must accept this concept as
true. They must see that energy is in fact composed of tiny molecules and that
these bits of energy help compose the soul. This soul in turn help creates us
into who we are as individuals. It is when the harmony is reached in
understanding these ideas that one can combine their energies with the world
around them. This allows one to take on aspects of different elements such as
obtaining heat to warm ones body by merging with the hot eminating energies from
a flame of a candle.
In this project, I am investigating the different aspects of this energetic connection (for example: color, form, shape, movement). It is not the energy that goes into each individual work itself that makes the artwork powerful. It is the brilliant colors, multiple layers of acrylic paint and the various dots, lines, shapes and arches that form this energy that I find within my own soul. I hope that when this work is looked as closely, the viewer can discover their own inner strength that they possess. One’s true power comes from completely understanding what lies within. Giving someone the ability to look into themself is the driving force behind my work.
